Freddy is a Senior Associate (New Zealand qualified) with a diverse background in both criminal and civil litigation. Freddy brings seven years of post-qualification experience, assisting victims of crime to seek justice and assisting clients to bring civil litigation for fraud and other wrongdoing. Freddy is an experienced prosecutor with extensive courtroom experience, and understands how to build and present successful cases before Judges and juries alike.
Freddy was admitted to the New Zealand High Court in 2018. Since then, Freddy has dedicated his practice to complex, high-stakes litigation in the criminal and civil spheres.
Freddy commenced his professional career at Russell McVeagh, one of New Zealand’s most prominent commercial law firms, where he practised in the commercial litigation team on diverse and complex cases for national and international clients. Freddy then became a Crown Prosecutor at Kayes Fletcher Walker, spending over three years prosecuting serious crimes in New Zealand’s largest and busiest criminal district. Freddy gained extensive courtroom experience as an advocate, including in homicides, sexual and drug offences, violent crimes, fraud and dishonesty offences, and worked closely with the Police and other public enforcement bodies in prosecuting these cases.
At Edmonds Marshall McMahon, Freddy works in both our criminal and civil teams. On the criminal side, Freddy assists victims of crime to prepare and commence private prosecutions, conduct investigations, and conducts criminal advisory work. Freddy understands how to present compelling cases to juries, and what Police forces look for when deciding to investigate. Freddy is passionate about assisting clients to achieve justice, particularly when traditional enforcement avenues have failed. On the civil side, Freddy continues to assist in the conduct of a wide range of civil litigation matters and in the conduct of insolvency proceedings.
Freddy holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Auckland and Masters of Law (1st) from the University of Cambridge.
Outside of law, Freddy is a keen musician, sportsman, musician, and fitness enthusiast.
